Z’s Story
Z is a young boy whose home life is highly disrupted due to financial instability. The family has had a difficult year, with some members living in a caravan on another family’s land whilst others were forced to live in a tent. Being separated from his family in this manner has placed an enormous emotional strain on Z.
Z’s social skills have developed mostly from the time he has spent at school and through the relationships he has with his friends. The friendships he has with his classmates have been vital to his development. However, due to his family’s finances, he was unable to attend the class three-day camp program.
Thanks to the Max e Grants funding, Z was able to participate in the camping program and share the experience with his peers. Additionally, Z was able to participate in his school’s swimming program which further improved his social skills and gave him valuable water safety skills. Being able to attend these school activities has been instrumental in offering some form of stability and inclusion with Z’s peers.
