K’s Story
K is an Indigenous girl for whom English is a second language. She lives in a low socio-economic community about 600km from the nearest urban centre. She attends a small school, however her family cannot afford books, a laptop or school uniform.
Despite this, she has shown great academic potential and would benefit from having her own school supplies to take home at the end of the day. Despite her community’s poor economic situation, they support K and want her to be successful in school, and make the most of her natural academic talents. Max e Grants funding gave K her own set of textbooks and other essential school supplies. K was excited to be able to take books home to keep for the first time in her life.
